Review:
I used these to replace the Svetlana 6550C's in my conrad-johnson Premier 140. They haven't had time to burn in yet, but my wife and I both have repeatedly had the sensation of listening to old favorites for the first time, and in a very good way. More forward presentation, better balance, cleaner bass, livelier dynamics, I can't think of a single area in which the sound didn't improve.
But, frankly, I looked first for a place to leave a general review, because tubes are tubes, you pick what you want and you play 'em. What I mean is: You can get them a lot of places. But Peter and Ellen provide such excellent service, they'll be my first choice for tubes. Not only was the price excellent, but I got excellent advice, prompt shipping, friendly service. That's hard to find these days...

I tried the tubes today. My setup is McIntosh MC275 amplifier, McIntosh C42 preamp, Music Hall MMF CD-25 player, Music Hall MMF-5 turntable, and B&W 604 speakers.
Although the tubes have not had a burn in period, I was truly amazed at the clarity and phenomenal tonality they produced. Playing either CD's or Vinyl the sound quality made you feel like you were at a live performance. The tubes I replaced were
KT88's made for McIntosh and I thought they were quite good, but the Genalex Gold Lion tubes are superior.
I am truly pleased with my purchase.
Review:
These tube are interesting in comparison to the Electro-Harmonix KT88s. They have a fatter sound but do not sacrifice the high end. The spectral balance seems to be more towards a fleshed out midrange. The bass is excellent. I have tried these in a number of KT88 amps and the sonic character of these tubes seems to be uniform. In all cases you get a lusher sound, but with good top end and excellent bass.
