The Dimenuendo puts you in control!
With your new passive preamplifier with infrared remote control, you can relax, sit back and enjoy listening to music. Control the volume level, mute and signal source from your favorite listening position.
Why passive
.
Passive means there are no active components in the sound path. You can be sure the music coming from your source going to your amp has no coloration. You get pure sound without any interference from the Dimenuendo.
How does this work
The Dimenuendo has a micro-computer that precisely controls micro-miniature, low noise signal relays to control volume. The only components in the sound path are low noise resistors and relay contacts. Precision control of the resistors and relay contacts eliminates any switching noise.
The relays and resistors provide rapid 26 step stereo attenuation for the left and right channels. The make before break relays assure connection is made each step of the way through volume up or down. Smooth, continuous and pure music through volume changes and mute.
When you are using one of the music sources, the other channels have the same impedance as the channel in use. This ensures quick and quiet selection among music sources when you change music source. When you mute the Dimenuendo, we lock out the volume up of the preamp – this ensures you don’t get an unexpected blast of music when you un-mute.
And all of this is done using the infrared remote control, or manually if you want to step up!
Here’s the technical information about the Dimenuendo
- No active/reactive components in the signal path
- completely passive doesn’t color the signal source
- 26 Step attenuation from 0 to - ∞ mute (output grounded)
- Attenuator steps -2Db, -4Db and -5Db increments
- 0Db to – 36Db in -2Db increments (19 steps)
- -40Db
- -45Db to -65Db in -5Db steps (5 steps) and ∞ (grounded)
- (26 steps total)
- Make-before-break relay attenuator step switching for quiet operation
- Fast operation of attenuation steps (<30mS) using volume control switches
- High reliability sealed (50 million operations) low signal relays
- IR remote control using a low cost standard ‘universal’ TV remote controller
- Comes with a pre-programmed remote control, brand may vary
- Uses the Philips RC5 protocol, device set to ‘TV’, CH select (+/-), Volume (+/-), Numeric Key pad entry (0-5) and Mute
- Mute control designed to ‘step down’ and ‘step up’ when muted and un-muted through each attenuation step for no sudden volume changes
- Fast transition from min to max and max to min
- 5 Stereo input selects to control input signal sources with constant loading
- Constant 25K (approximate) load impedance (even if the input is not selected) minimizing sudden volume changes and noise
- Manual controls
- Five Channel input select (example CD, Tuner, phono preamp, iPod, etc) and none
- Volume up and Volume down
- Mute
- Volume up lock-out when in Mute. (Reducing accidental high volume levels when un-muting)
- Volume level indicator using an LED that increases in brightness with volume up, and decreases with volume down
- Active Channel selected LEDs
- Button and IR activated LED indication
- High quality/reliability surface mount technology
- Power switch, fuse and power on indicator
- Power on computer check cycles through LEDs
- Universal low power wall power supply 100-240 V 50/60 Hz. US plug supplied as standard; various international ‘snap in’ plugs available
- Small foot print: 6. 1/2" x 4 1/4" x 2 1/8" / 16.5cm x 10.8cm x 5.4cm. The high quality, rugged, double sided epoxy glass printed circuit board is only 2.8” (7.1cm) x 5.7” (14.5cm) including connectors
